The Artist
“Paint something you love” is the principle that guides Dorothy’s brush.
Fascinated in the ways light and shadow affect the nuances of the human face and the glorious world around us, Dorothy’s desire for sensitivity and perfection results in evocative, respectful and warm images. Working in watercolours, oils, acrylics, or pencil, she works mostly from photographic studies of people and nature. Her realistic style and gentle approach, coupled with an inspired ability to see and share joy, capture the character of the subject and the essence of a moment with palettes chosen from close artistic observation. Because she paints from the heart, each painting is a generous gift, sharing the tender subtleties and intuitive understanding of her subjects with the viewer.
Born and raised in southern Ontario, she was given her first set of Winsor Newton paints at the age of seven and has been sharing her gift with others since. Her extensive portfolio includes portraits, landscapes, wildlife, family pets, homes, still life, book illustrations, advertising and murals.
